Planting information

Our field hedge planting kits are sold in 250 metre sections. Each kit contains 1000 plants, 1000 canes and 1000 clear spiral guards.  The plants are 40-60cm tall and comprise of 700 hawthorns, 100 field maple, 50 blackthorn, 50 dog rose, 50 hazel and 50 dogwood.

All the plants are grown in the United Kingdom using seed collected from established hedgerows in the UK.  This preserves the important ecology of our island, which is suited to our wildlife and its life cycles.

The plants are supplied from late November to late March in bare root form as lifted from the fields.  All plants are delivered in black and white co-extruded plastic bags as recommended by the Forestry Commission.  In a barn or shed, these plants can be stored for up to two weeks without detriment although the quicker they are planted the better.  For storage beyond two weeks it is recommended you put them in a trench and cover the roots with soil to help preserve them.  If planting in late March it is recommended that the roots be submersed in water for 24 hours prior to planting so that the plants are full of water.  Putting them in a pond edge or water butt will be fine as long as it is clean water.  This helps prevent putting the plants under stress during a dry spring, as the plants will quickly come into leaf after planting.

Each kit costs £450.00 + VAT. Delivery inside Lincolnshire is £60.00, and costs £85.00 outside of Lincolnshire. Delivery charges are listed excluding VAT.
