M1 Nottingham – Mansfield Widening
Supply of 82,000 trees, shrubs and transplants. UK provenance

A46 Newark-Widmerpool

The dualling of the A46 from Newark to Widmerpool has been an extensive scheme involving the supply of over 1 million native trees. The development has also received a CEEQUAL ‘Excellent' rating in recognition of the project's holistic approach to sustainable project delivery.

A1073 Spalding to Eye Improvement Works

The A1073 is an important strategic link between Lincolnshire and Eastern England for the distribution of both agricultural and food processing freight and as a local commuter route. Crowders supplied a range of native hedging, feathered material and standard trees to complete the scheme.

Fochabers Bypass

The bypass consists of 5.1 kms of single carriageway road, four roundabouts and junctions with the existing side road network. Trees, shrubs and native hedging were all supplied by Crowders for this road scheme.

A3 Hindhead
Although this is a tunnel, the works travel through a SSSI and over 100,000 trees are being planted.

A13/A130 Sadlers Farm

The A13/A130 Sadlers Farm junction forms part of the strategic highway network serving Thames Gateway South Essex. The existing junction comprises a series of five small roundabouts within a gyratory system and has historically been subject to severe congestion and delays.
The scheme is an essential element of the long- term strategy for Basildon and the Thames Gateway contributing to targets for the area relating to congestion, accessibility, safety, air quality and enhanced maintenance. This is achieved through the main objective of the scheme which is to reduce congestion on the strategic network.
The objective noted above will be delivered by the construction of a strategic link road removing 30% of the existing traffic complimented by signalisation of the existing gyratory, widening of the A13 and the introduction of a dedicated turning from the A13 onto Canvey Island. Works are still underway on this scheme, however delivery has been taken of the first batch of native hedging and trees.
Cobham Motorway Service Area
The construction of a brand new motorway service area between junctions 9 and 10 on the M25 is currently approaching its closing stages, with the main structure already completed and operational. Crowders is involved in the supply of native and ornamental shrubs and hedging material.

The Look Out

The Look Out in Hyde Park, London was an opportunity to supply trees, shrubs and herbaceous plants for a new educational facility specifically aimed at teaching city children about the natural world.

Woolwich Square

A supply of trees, shrubs and herbaceous stock aided in the transformation of General Gordon Square which formed part of the Woolwich Squares Project.

Stratford Park, East London

Forming part of a highly prestigious scheme at Stratford Park, East London, Crowders supplied a range of products including mature trees, native hedging and shrubs along with an array of herbaceous perennials designed to provide an instant impact for a grand opening ceremony.

Athletes Village

Instant hedging units, ornamental shrubs and other native hedging were supplied to provide a sleek and contemporary finish to this high profile job.

BSF/Schools Projects/Academies

- Trinity Catholic College & Sixth Form, Middlesbrough

Forming part of the Building Schools for hte Future campaign, the Trinity Catholic College & Sixth Form Centre in Middlesbrough involved the supply of native hedging and shrubs as well as a number of heavy standard trees.

 - Hyde Community College

A large number of native hedging plants, ornamental shrubs and heavy standard trees formed the basis of this scheme.

- Hollingworth Business & Enterprise College

Another BSF scheme, Hollingworth Business & Enterprise College in Milnrow near Rochdale involved the supply of native hedging, ornamental shrubs and trees.

 - Stanley Park High School

Feathered trees and striking perennials helped to transform the outside space to this brand new school development in Carshalton which recently won the London Design Award in the Education Category.

- Priory City of Lincoln Academy 

A scheme that is nearly on the doorstep was the supply of mature trees, ornamental shrubs and perennials for the redevelopment of the Priory City of Lincoln Academy. Part of the design also included a first-floor garden attached to the arts room to help inspire students.

- Peak School, Chinley

The construction of a new facility within the grounds of Peak School, Chinley led to the supply of trees, ornamental shrubs, native hedging and aquatic plants. The development provided a new home and short break resource for disabled children and young people for use by the school's own intake as well as being open to the wider community.

- Barnsley College

The Barnsley College development was an exciting new 9 storey building which featured a plentiful supply of ornamental shrubs to set off this striking design.

- Lister Community School

Lister Community school in East London formed part of the BSF scheme for that area. Crowders supplied trees, shrubs, herbaceous perennials and bulbs for this job.

- Chipping Hill Primary School

This new school development in Essex saw the supply of a wide range of trees, ornamental shrubs and native hedging.

- Dagenham Park School

A brand new, state-of-the-art school, Dagenham Park School saw the supply of mature trees, native shrubs and hedging along with herbaceous perennials.

- Spires Academy

A new building for Spires Academy in Sturry has recently been completed which involved the need for native and ornamental shrubs along with perennials.

- Strood Academy

Another new building for Strood Academy in Kent has been supplied with specimen trees, ornamental shrubs and herbaceous perennials.

- Cornwallis Academy

Cornwallis Academy is a new build academy building specialising in technology and science. Currently being supplied are a range of ornamental and native trees and shrubs.

- Robert Blake & Elmwood School

Currently underway is the Robert Blake & Elmwood School in Bridgwater. The majority of stock being supplied for this scheme is ornamental shrubs.

Skegness Foreshore

The Skegness Foreshore scheme is an ongoing development designed to revamp the popular seaside resort. Crowders has supplied stock for the first phase which was required to be completed prior to the 2012 season with the aim of giving Skegness a boost. The scheme is part of a masterplan to transform the area's foreshore ranging from North Parade to Gibraltor Point into four 'themed' zones - Sport, Family & Events, Culture and Ecology. East Lindsey District Council, who are funding the project, hope to see it completed over the next three to five years.

Eastside City Park

Eastside City Park is the first major new city centre park in Birmingham for more than 130 years. Once completed, the park will add 6.75 acres of green space to the city centre. Crowders have supplied a range of sizes of instant hedging material for this scheme.

Twickenham Riverside

The Twickenham Riverside development was officially opened by royalty earlier this year. Princess Alexandra unveiled the new Diamond Jubilee Gardens, built on the site of the former Twickenham Lido pool site. Careful attention to detail has gone into the design and development stages of this scheme including retaining the original diving board and even sectioning the new lawns into 'swimming pool lanes', located exactly where the old swimming pool was positioned. Crowders contribution towards this exciting development was the supply of a wide range and sizes of herbaceous perennials and shrubs.

Network Rail, Milton Keynes

Crowders was also pleased to supply ornamental shrubs and herbaceous perennials for the new headquarters for Network Rail in Milton Keynes. Built on the site of the former National Hockey Stadium, the site is now home to approximately 3000 employees.

Wisewood Estate

As part of the regeneration of the Wisewood Estate in Sheffield, residents' driveways were redeveloped to incorporate off-road parking spaces. Crowders were involved in supplying a large quantity of ornamental shrubs for the re-landscaping of the finished hardworks.

Former Dawley Landfill

The former Dawley landfill site provided the basis to transform a previous brownfield site into a nature park which involved the supply of native hedging plants.

St Ann's JSC

The St Ann's Joint Service Centre was a key compenent in a wider regeneration project in one of the most deprived neighbourhoods in Nottingham. Crowders supplied a variety of ornamental shrubs for this project.

Wallsend Parks Play Area

The supply of large trees, ornamental shrubs and herbaceous perennials all helped towards this regeneration scheme in the North East.

Belmarsh Prison

Aquatic plants, ornamental shrubs, native hedging and large trees were required for the new Belmarsh West PFI Prison in South London.

Dobbies Garden Cente

A vast array of ornamental shrubs and herbaceous perennials were supplied to the new Dobbies garden centre in Gillingham, Kent.

Broughton Gate Linear Park

The extension to Broughton Gate Linear Park in Milton Keynes comprised the supply of native trees, hedges and herbaceous perennials.

Hoe Valley

The Hoe Valley scheme was a big civil construction project designed to reduce the risk of flooding in the area as well as making an area of new land available for the development of 150 new homes. A new, landscaped, country park was created with the aim of promoting a mixed ecology and to encourage wildlife bio-diversity. Therefore, the supply of native trees and hedging, as well as ornamental shrubs, perennials and bulbs were all provided by Crowders. The Hoe Valley scheme received a CEEQUAL 'Excellent Whole Project Award'  with a score of 90.8%. CEEQUAL recognises projects which have gone above and beyond to improve sustainability in civil engineering and the public realm.

Dirft Railway Distribution Park, Daventry

Dirft is the UK's premier road and rail distribution hub and has just completed its second phase of development with a third in the pipeline. At 500 acres, the site in Daventry is located within the distribution 'golden triangle'. Crowders were involved with the supply of native trees and hedging for this important development.

 Morrisons, Bridgwater

A new regional distribution centre located next to the M5 involved the supply of native hedging and trees as well as ornamental shrubs.

Heartwood Forest

The supply of native trees saw the commencement of what is hoped to be the largest new native forest in England. The Woodland Trust are aiming to develop an 850 acre site near St Albans from open fields in jsut 12 years. With an existing ancient woodland of 45 acres, the organisation is hoping the additional planting works, creation of wildflower meadows and footpaths and bridleways will be accessible to millions of people within easy reach.

MK Busway

The A5130 busway scheme included the widening of the road between Northfield roundabout and the new Brooklands City Street in the Eastern Expansion Area to allow bus lanes for the new coachway. The scheme is in response to the hugh Brooklands housing development which anticipates the increase of residents in the area by up to 10,000 once completed. Crowders supplied a mixture of native trees and shrubs to complete this scheme.

Ryewood Meadows

The Ryewood Meadows development in Sevenoaks, Kent is a brand new residential area adjacent to the Sevenoaks Wildlife Park in the Kent countryside. The Berkeley Homes scheme includes landscaped squares and gardens composed of specimen trees and shrubs as well as smaller ornamental varieties.

Devons Estate

The Devons Estate development in Bromley-by-Bow is a regeneration scheme comprising of a new supermarket, park, school and residential area. Crowders has already supplied specimen trees and shrubs with more still to go.

 Oceans Estate

Another regeneration scheme currently in progress is Oceans Estate which is in partnership with Tower Hamlets Council and East Thames Development Consortium. The scheme is one of the UK's largest regeneration projects and includes a £38m refurbishment project and a £47m new build programme as part of the £200m Ocean Estate regeneration scheme. A combination of ornamental shrubs and herbaceous perennials are being supplied for this development.

Lime Grove Mews

The St James Homes development in Hammersmith is an exclusive collection of elegant apartments and Regency style villas. Ornamental shrubs and perennials are currently being supplied for this scheme.

Markham Vale

Markham Vale is a 200 acre business/industrial park offering direct access to the M1 motorway via a dedicated new junction - J29A. Native hedging and large shrubs were Crowders' contribution towards this scheme!

Lordship Recreation Ground

Recently re-opened was Tottenham's largest park, Lordship Recreation Ground, following £5m improvements. Ornamental shrubs and specimen trees were supplied by Crowders.
